Social Security dentures: how to use your benefit

Content reviewed by Dr. Pawak Tungthangthum, DDS (Chiang Mai University), MSc in Esthetic Restorative and Implant Dentistry (International Program), Chulalongkorn University · Last reviewed

Yes, you can use your Social Security dental benefit for dentures made at Kitcha Dental Clinic. You pay for your treatment at the clinic, we prepare a medical certificate and receipt, and you claim the benefit with these documents.

How the Social Security dental benefit works with dentures

If you work in Thailand and pay Social Security contributions, your dental benefit can be used for treatments such as scaling, fillings, extractions and dentures, within the limits set by the Social Security Office.

At our clinic you pay for the treatment first. We then give you a medical certificate and an itemized receipt showing exactly what was done, in the format the Social Security Office expects, so you can submit your claim.

How much can you claim for dentures?

The amount depends on the type of denture and the number of teeth replaced, under the rates announced by the Social Security Office. These rates are updated from time to time, so please check the current rates on the Social Security Office website or call the SSO hotline 1506.

If the cost of your denture is higher than the amount you can claim, the difference is paid by you. Our team can go through the conditions with you before treatment starts.

From the first visit to your claim

  • Examination and planning: your dentist checks your teeth, gums and bone, takes X-rays when needed and explains which dentures suit you.
  • Impressions or a digital scan: the records are sent to our partner dental laboratory. Full payment is requested on the day of the impression.
  • Try-in: you try the denture so the color, shape and fit can be adjusted before it is finished.
  • Fitting and adjustments: the finished denture is fitted and your bite is checked. Follow-up visits are used to ease any sore spots.
  • Documents for your claim: you receive the medical certificate and itemized receipt, then submit them to the Social Security Office.

Most dentures need at least 3–4 visits, and full dentures usually need more visits than partial dentures. Your dentist gives you a visit plan after the examination.

Documents the clinic prepares for you

  • A medical certificate from the dentist who treated you.
  • An itemized receipt that lists each treatment, in the format the Social Security Office expects.

Other documents for the claim, and where to submit it, are set by the Social Security Office. Please check them on the Social Security Office website or with the 1506 hotline. If you are claiming for the first time, including as a foreign worker, our reception team can explain what we provide.

Which type of denture suits you?

  • Full dentures replace all the teeth in a jaw, on an acrylic or metal base. A digital full denture is also available.
  • Partial dentures with a thin cobalt-chromium framework clip onto your remaining teeth.
  • Flexible partial dentures are made from a flexible resin, with no metal clasps.
  • Implant-retained dentures clip onto implants, so they move less when you eat and speak.

Which items your claim covers depends on the Social Security conditions, so ask your dentist which denture suits your mouth first, then check the benefit for that type.
