Paracetamol 500 mg. (tablet)

Paracetamol is a medication in the group of fever reducers and mild to moderate pain relievers. It is used for conditions such as headaches, muscle aches from colds, toothaches, menstrual cramps, muscle pain, back pain, and osteoarthritis.

1) Precautions Before Using  Paracetamol: Use Transamin with caution in individuals with the following conditions:

  • Do not use in individuals with a history of allergic reactions to paracetamol.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dosage stated on the label, or package insert, and follow the advice of a doctor or pharmacist. Overuse of paracetamol may lead to severe poisoning and liver failure.
  • Avoid using this medication with other products containing paracetamol, as it may result in exceeding the recommended dosage.
  • Seek medical attention if you have a high fever (body temperature above 39.5 degrees Celsius).
  • Patients with liver disease should consult a doctor or pharmacist before using this medication, as it may pose a higher risk.
  • Paracetamol can be taken with or without food.
  • Use this medication only when necessary, as it is intended to relieve pain and fever.
  • Prolonged use of paracetamol, excessive dosage, or concurrent alcohol consumption may lead to liver dysfunction and hepatotoxicity.

 2)  How to use the medication:

  • The appropriate dosage of paracetamol should be based on body weight. The recommended dosage is 10-15 mg/kg per dose. If the calculated dosage exceeds 10-15 mg/kg, it indicates an overdose, which may result in severe poisoning to the liver.
  • For adults, take 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours. Do not exceed 8 tablets per day or 4 grams per day. Avoid continuous use for more than 5 days.
  • For children, individuals with low body weight, or those with liver disease, dosage adjustments may be necessary. Therefore, always consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking the medication to ensure safe and appropriate use.
  • If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered, but leave at least 4-6 hours before the next dose. Do not double the dose if it is close to the next scheduled dose.

 3) Precautions while using the medication:

  • Do not exceed 500-1,000 mg per dose every 4-6 hours.
  • Do not exceed 4,000 mg per day.
  • Do not use paracetamol concurrently with alcohol.

4) Potential risks from the medication: Common side effects may include:

  • Do not exceed 500-1,000 mg per dose every 4-6 hours.
  • Do not exceed 4,000 mg per day.
  • Do not use paracetamol concurrently with alcohol.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as facial swelling, eye swelling, mouth swelling, toxicity, darkened skin, bloating, difficulty breathing, rash, blistering, or skin peeling occur, as these may indicate an allergic reaction or overdose.
  • Stop using the medication and seek medical attention immediately if stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, jaundice, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or abnormal urine output occur after continuous use of the medication.

5) How to store the medication:

  • Keep the medication in its original container and blister pack, tightly closed.
  • Store the medication away from moisture, sunlight, and heat (at room temperature not exceeding 30 degrees Celsius) to prevent degradation.
  • Keep the medication out of reach of children and pets.
